We Build For People
The home services industry is one of the largest markets in North America, at over $350 billion and growing. But spend five minutes trying to hire a contractor, and you'd never know it. The experience is fragmented, inconsistent, and frustrating for both sides.
The modern homeowner expects the same seamless digital experience from their contractor as they do from their bank or their ride and is left scrolling through endless options with no real way to tell the good from the great. Every contractor has a five-star rating. Every contractor has a nice logo. None of it means anything.
And for contractors? The ones who do exceptional work, show up on time, and take pride in their trade look exactly the same online as everyone else. There's no recognized network or place where quality contractors naturally gather and get the recognition they've earned. The era of the Better Business Bureau membership paired with a half-decent website is long gone.
That gap is what we're here to close.

Renovations shouldn't be so hard
Our mission at The Middleman is to build the central place for high-quality home services so improving your home with reliable, local craftsmen is as easy as the click of a button

How It Started
Our founder, Anson Garaba, grew up in a small town in northern Alberta, where the two primary industries were agriculture and the oilfield. That environment teaches you something early: how to build things, and how to fix them when they break.
That instinct led to nearly a decade working hands-on in construction and home services, building and fixing everything from fences to basements to highways. Somewhere along the way, the gaps in the industry became impossible to ignore. Once he saw it, he knew he had to do something.
The construction industry doesn't change easily — it runs on trust, reputation, and relationships built over years. Anson knew that, so he built the platform to honor all three — and move the industry forward.
Where We Are Going
A homeowner should be able to find, hire, and work with a great contractor the same way they book a flight or order from a restaurant: with confidence, clarity, and zero guesswork.
A great contractor should never have to wonder if the right people know how good they are.
This isn't just about making either side's life easier. What we're really building is a network, a foundation for a new corner of the economy where quality is recognized, rewarded, and sought after in the domain of home management. Where skilled trades are able to exist within a professional and prestigious framework that allows the community to decide on who is not just good, but great. Where the best work is lifted up, and everyone benefits from it.
That's the world we're building toward. And we're just getting started. Join us on the journey.
